Electrolysis or laser - what's the difference?
The simplest way to understand which one is right for you.
Electrolysis
Destroys the hair-growth cells directly. The only true permanent hair removal - and it works on any skin and hair colour, anywhere on the body.
Laser
Targets the pigment in the hair. It reduces hair, and works best on lighter skin with darker hair - so it can't treat blonde, grey or red hair.

Is it permanent?
Yes. Electrolysis has been used for decades and is the only true form of permanent hair removal.
Does it hurt?
It's not the most comfortable - a warm, stinging sensation that depends on the area and on you. Your therapist works with your comfort.
How long is a session?
From 10 minutes up to 60 minutes or more, depending on the area and amount of hair.
How many sessions?
Each hair needs treating 5–6 times at the right growth stage, so a full result usually takes 12–18 months. We map it out for you at your first visit.

Does it really work on grey, blonde or red hair?
Yes. Electrolysis targets the hair-growth cells, not the pigment, so it works on every hair colour - including the ones laser can't treat.
Is there anyone who can't have it?
We can't treat during pregnancy, or clients with a pacemaker. Otherwise electrolysis suits most people - we confirm at your first appointment.
How is it different from laser?
Electrolysis is permanent and works on any skin and hair colour. Laser is a hair reducer that works best on lighter skin with darker hair.
How long until I'm hair-free?
Usually 12–18 months, because each hair must be treated several times at the right growth stage. Everyone is different - we give you a realistic plan up front.
